Because you are a small and close group of friends, canyoning takes on
As you descend on the lines you have complete control. Your eyes focus in front or above you, not below. There's no "fear of heights". People who say they have a fear of heights are really saying they have a fear of falling. (Being in tall buildings is not fearful unless you are outside with a low railing)
With Serendipity, every companion has real responsibilities. Your companions check everyone else's harness and carabiners, shoe laces and helmet strap while Serendipity guides are watching and checking, too. At the top of the cascading water you help your companion over the edge, making sure he's holding the rope correctly, help him find the first footing. As you descend your team members above help you find your footing, watch your hands and shout advice. Once you have descended you become the brakes for the next to descend. This is teamwork where every age, every one of your companions will have responsibilities to the rest.
Only Serendipity makes this extra effort to really engage our guests as team members. There's no pushing to finish.
And when you are all down, and sharing hot chocolate next to the river, everyone knows they have shared and learned something extraordinary together, as a team.
While we're at it, let's talk about Risk. It's one of the most important aspects of any adventure. We're proud of our record, and our commitment to setting the standard in Costa Rica for minimizing risk.
I was surprised at how detail oriented attentative and flexible the entire Serendipity staff was. It certainly made our travels stress free. I didn't appreciate how much that meant unti I got here and saw the miserable roads, packed tour buses, and cattle herding mentality that the big tour companies create.
